17 May 2007 10:58 PM Alert

This Saturday was perfect for jumping and the Otter flew non-stop all daylong flying just short of 30 loads in all.  There were plenty of blue skies and everyone was happy to get some air!

Friends and family of Jerry Wells were also out this weekend celebrating Jerry’s life. They made a memorial jump in his honor, and gathered in the Sky-lounge.

Sunday started out a bit rainy, but soon the clouds parted and gave way to more blue skies and gentle wind.  Of course, everyone made sure to take some time and wish their mom a Happy Mother’s Day!

Some of you may have noticed our newest AFP students: Bronwyn and Nicola.  They have been out here everyday working hard to getting their licenses!  Bronwyn is almost there, and Nicola is here all the way from New York!  She heard about Skydive Chicago on Skydive Radio and decided to come here to learn how to skydive!

We would also like to welcome our newest AFP instructor Latisha.  She’s been keeping busy with our new students and we’re happy to have her at Skydive Chicago!

This Thursday, May 17th, at 9pm some of us will be going out to Dreams, a sports bar and grill in Lockport, to promote skydiving.  The manager Fernando is a jumper, and wants to use Dreams to help recruit new people into the sport!  Feel free to come out and join us.

This Friday will be the last weekend we are in the Sky-lounge before the Tiki Hut opens!  There will be drinks and pizza.  Saturday we will be in the Sky-lounge having a game night.  Be prepared for some Texas Hold ‘em, Twister, Guessture, and whatever else we come up with.  Around 7pm Genie’s Café will serve a delicious feast of BBQ beef sandwiches, mac & cheese, corn nibblers, and salad, for only $7.

Next Friday, May 25th, marks the beginning of our next AFP in a week!

Don’t forget that next weekend is our annual Make-A-Wish Memorial Weekend boogie hosted by Team Funnel.  There will be a drawing with cash prizes and the proceeds go to the Make-A-Wish foundation.  We have both Otters here and ready to go!

For Memorial Day Weekend, the bars will not be open on Saturday so that everyone can support Team Funnel's Annual Make-A-Wish Fundraiser.  Then on Sunday, we will be hosting a Burger Event.  We'll be cooking up some Cajun Pork Burgers, Bison Burgers, the Good Ole Hamburger, & Portobello Burgers.  Also, this will be your chance to introduce yourself to Kory who is the newest addition to the staff at the Cafe.
(He made his first tandem jump Saturday!!!!!!!)

See you soon!

Erin
