02 Apr 2008 4:12 PM Alert

I believe most people have given up on it getting warmer and are coming out to get in the air anyways.  I’m telling myself that the transition to hot isn’t going to take long.

Trying to reduce our carbon emissions, Donovan has worked out a system to run all the grounds equipment on bio-fuel.  Cutting 220 acres of grass can really add up.  It’s a shame that we can’t run the Otters on the mixture of vegetable oil and additive.  Not only will this cut down on carbon emissions but fuel costs as well.  We can produce one gallon for 50 cents!!  Compared to $3.40 for a gallon of jet-A.   This will help control costs of the campground rent.

We have started breaking ground on the cabins.  Phase one includes 3 cabins that can sleep up to four people.  If the weather cooperates we are hoping to have them finished by the end of the month.  They will run $45 per night or $280 per week.

This past week was busy with spring breakers making the best of their time off in Chicago.  The weather was on our side for most of the week until Sunday.

We are trying to force the cold weather away by turning on the water to the campground.  If you are in a full hook-up slot you once again have water.   We also have turned the waterfall back on!!  Come on warmer weather!!

This coming week we welcome home Kenny and Whitney.  They have spent the winter in Jackson Hole snowboarding and relaxing.  I was able to visit them for a weekend and go skiing.

Also Dave and Karry Schwartz will be returning.  Our winter contract in Atlanta is over and they are headed home with N30EA.  We still have some contracts with the second Otter so it won’t be back full time until mid May.

Local jumper Mike Deegan has been working hard on the Memorial Day Jump-A-Thon fundraiser.  Mike is raising money for Western DuPage Special Recreation Association.  They are raising money to build a gym for their members.  So, if you want to help out check out www.WDSRA.com for more information.

April 1, 1996 was the day we broke ground on the new Skydive Chicago.  After two years of hard work we were able to open our doors April 1, 1998.   On behalf of SDC I would like to thank the countless people that have contributed to make SDC what it is today.  It has been an exciting venture to say the least and I’m looking forward to another great 10 years.

Coming up April 12 is our annual mandatory staff meeting.  Please, if you plan on being a part of the staff please be in attendance.  The meeting will start at 8 pm.

Next week Geniez Café will be open during the week.  She will be offering daily lunch specials throughout the week.

We are hosting a USPA coaches course May 1-4 and Tandem Rating course May -11.  If you are interested in obtaining your rating please check out www.skydiveratings.com to sign up.

The weather forecast is looking better…let’s hope for a great weekend.
