25 Jun 2008 5:02 PM Alert

Just an FYI: when the forecast says rain, bring your sunglasses.

I don’t think the weather people could be any more wrong with there forecasts.  Both Saturday and Sunday were blue bird!!

Most of you have noticed the tandems have been coming in herds!!  Saturday alone we put up 135.  I’ll be honest, I was ready for a little slower of a year with the uncertainty of our economy and high fuel prices but that truly hasn’t been the case.

Saturday night the Tiki bar was in full swing.  We are looking to host live entertainment on Saturday nights.   I’m building the calendar and we’ll post it once it’s confirmed.  Back by popular demand is Chris Ferrell for the 5th of July.  We had a great time when he came out and I think it will be a great addition to the fireworks celebration.

Sunday we woke up to severe clear skies and two otters waiting to haul people.  The tandem area slowly began to fill, and Casey was organizing 10-15 ways.  Doug Lagally and I were doing a coaching day.  Thanks Doug who got in twelve jumps.

I’m still working on getting a single engine aircraft for weekday operations.  I have found a few options and now it’s time to convince the bank.  One option is a Pilatus Porter, an ugly airplane but a hard working airplane.   Through some contacts we located one in South America.  Looking around mid-July to have this aircraft online.

Attention campground residents, please remember to turn off your lights and A/C when you leave for the week.  I have MANY people leaving items on and I’m trying to avoid raising rent.   Also please bring your recyclables to the hanger and don’t just throw them in the trash.  It’s a pain, but every little bit helps.

Coming up this weekend is the Guy Wright Diamond and Jewels event.  We have a few slots still open so if you are interested please e-mail Erin@skydivechicago.com ASAP.

Also this weekend is MWSL meet #2.  If you are interested in competing be at the hanger Saturday by 8am.

Lets hope the weather holds for High Altitude jumps on Saturday.  We are planning 3 loads: 9am, noon, and sunset to go to 20,000 feet.  Price is $40, which includes your slot, oxygen, and a mask.  Slots are limited so signup early.  I will be handling the briefing prior to each load.

In an effort to try and make a swoop club up we are going to host one this Sunday.  Everyone that wants to get his or her swoop on meet at the hanger at 9am.

We have updated the Summerfest section on the website.  Check it out HERE.  The balloon will only be here on the weekends and slots are limited.  It’s taken a lot of work finding a balloon to confirm but they are coming so if you are interested sign up early.  Details on how to signup in advance will be posted on the Summerfest page.

I’m in the process of overhauling the washers and dryers in the shower house.  Believe it or not the machines that were in there are not ours.  The guy that owned them has abandoned them and we are replacing them with brand new machines.  I’m looking to have this completed by next week.

Don’t forget to enter the sunset of the week contest.  Check it out HERE.

We have a great weekend ahead of us so come on out.
