06 Oct 2008 5:27 PM Alert

I would like to start off this update by making a personal apology.  I would like to apologize for the long calls on Saturday.  I would have never guessed that given our current economy and being October that we would require 2 otters.  I will not let that happen again.

OK now that, that is out of the way, I would like to congratulate Karyn Rees on completing her 1000th jump.

The teams were back in town and you could tell by the intensity that the nationals are just a few weeks away.  This was the last training camp for the VRW teams prior to the Nationals.  The Furies and On the Fly will be tweaking last minute items this weekend.

Congratulations to the Zepeda-Walker wedding.  They chose SDC as the venue for their reception.  Many in attendance took advantage of the unique venue to watch the jumpers and take in some of the sights.  Eat Up did a great job catering the event and making sure there were no bridezillas.

Those in attendance this past weekend saw a visitor in the hangar.  Positive Painting the onsite painting facility had a request to paint an A-1 Skyraider.  This aircraft built by Douglas, was an attaché aircraft that can carry up to 15,000 pounds!  That’s like lifting an entire Otter!!  There are only 19 still flying and the one that is on location is the oldest flying model.  Check out http://www.warbirdalley.com/a1.htm for more specs on the A-1.

This past weekend we surpassed 6000 tandems.  We are only a few hundred away from breaking our all time record.  Hopefully the weather will hold out for us.  Thanks to all the tandem masters, packers, mainfestors, and pilots that helped make this happen.

N30EA was on the road this past weekend.  Dave Schwartz took her over to the Harvest Boogie in Dubuque, Iowa.  This is the 3rd year we have gone and it gets better every year.  Thanks to Tanya for involving us with their event.

SDC has the hottest looking tandem students around!!  We teamed up with Deepseed a company out of New Zealand to get some new student jumpsuits and man do they look great.  Check them out if you are in the market for a new suit.  www.deepseed.com

SDC is now home to Skydive Radio.  Skydive Radio, the online radio show, now has a studio located onsite.  Check them out at www.skydiveradio.com for upcoming shows and events.

N30EA will be headed to Florida soon.  If you are making winter plans be sure to stop in and say hello.  Sebastian is one of the only DZ’s in the US where you can jump over the coast.  SDC will be there for the Invasion December 27 – Jan 4.  We are also hosting a FF World Record Tryout Jan 2-4 in Sebastian.  Check out there website www.skydiveseb.com.
