Skydive Chicago Teams Up With The Red Cross

Disaster Support and Relief Training in Ottawa, IL

The American Red Cross of Greater Chicago came to Skydive Chicago today to spend time training for when disaster strikes.  The teams of people who work and volunteer for The Red Cross of Greater Chicago met to practice different disaster relief scenarios.  Role-play, education and discussion were used better understand the ‘what and hows’ of relief procedures.  One of the focuses of today was setting up a shelter and managing the flow of victims, staff, by-standers and more.

The program held at Skydive Chicago today was part of a larger campaign called Operation Power Play 2017.  The American Red Cross of Greater Chicago meet, discuss and practice for different disaster and support policy and procedures.  Other topics and focal points of Operation Play Play include Responder Safety and Health, Emergency Operations Center Management, Critical Logistics and Resource Management, Interoperable Communications, and Restoration of Lifelines (power restoration to critical infrastructure).  Groups from all over the state meet to prepare for all of these scenarios and more.

We at Skydive Chicago are very thankful to be able to support The American Red Cross of Greater Chicago in their efforts to support our local community.  If you you would like to make a donation or be a part of disaster relief in your Chicagoland area, click here and get started today!
